Frederick SLP is pleased to announce that speech-language pathologist Joanna Jobin, M.S. CCC-SLP is now certified to provide Lee Silverman Voice Treatment LOUD to clients at the clinic.
Lee Silverman Voice Treatment LOUD (LSVT LOUD) is an evidence-based speech-language therapy treatment for clients with Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, ataxia, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome. LSVT LOUD focuses on a single goal of improving vocal loudness to normal levels while delivering intensive treatment. Research has shown improvement beyond vocal loudness including articulation (speech sounds), breath support, voice quality, intonation, and even facial expressions. LSVT LOUD treatment is comprised of 4 weeks of individual clinical sessions 4 times per week for one hour long sessions, plus daily homework and carryover exercises. Following the completion of treatment, clients will need to continue to practice at least once a day for 10-15 minutes to prolong the improvement from treatment.
